James "Horse Shoe" Robertson Rev. War Pension
- 1832 James "Horse Shoe" Robertson Revolutionary War pension statement (James: 1.David,2.Israel,3.Nicholas b.c1666). Contributed by John Robertson
- Revolutionary Soldiers in Alabama. You'll find Horse Shoe here, shown as living in St.Clair Co AL (not true) and as being born in SC (not true). His tombstone inscription show hims as "Major" (not true, except possibly in some honorary sense).
- 1835 Alabama Pension Roll Of 1835. Shows him living in St. Clair Co.(not true) and 71 yrs. old (he was about 76, having been almost 73 when he applied in 1832 - see pension statement, above). It does show his having received it 3 years and as having served in the SC Continental Line (both correct). This listing apparently used in above entry.

1818-1870 George Robertson (1790-1874) Manuscript, 1818-1870. Listing for original h.w. autobiography found at KY Historical Society. He won election to Congress for three successive terms, beginning in 1817. In 1829 he became Chief Justice of the Kentucky Court of Appeals.He was a friend of Abraham Lincoln and Lincoln's father-in-law, Robert S. Todd, and also served as Lincoln's attorney at one time. Robertson was reelected as Chief Justice in August, 1864.

- From 1746 until 1764, the area shown as Granville, Vance and Warren Counties was all in Granville Co. See Map of VA/WV/NC in 1752. Description below.
- From 1764 until 1779, the area to the west of the center of presentday Vance Co. was in Granville Co. and that to the east was in Bute Co.
- In 1779 until 1881, the area west of the center of presentday Vance Co. was in Granville Co. and that to the east was in Warren Co.
- After 1881, the lines shown were in place.
VA:
- After 1742, the area shown as Mecklenburg Co. was in Lunenburg Co. The area east of the county line (near 78th meridian) was already in Brunswick Co. as it is today. See Map of VA/WV/NC in 1752. Description below.

- 1714 King to John Eaton(Ewen), 23 December 1714. Granted for the importation of Matthew Markes and family including daughter Sarah (m. Nicholas Rob*son b.c1666).
- 1719 Will of Mathew Marks, 15 August 1719. Father-in-law of Nicholas Rob*son b.c1666.
- 1726 King to Edward Roberson, 1 October 1726. (Edward: 1.Nicholas b.c1666)
- 1726 King to Israel Robinson, 31 October 1726 (Israel: 1.Nicholas b.c1666). Was Prince George Co. Now Dinwiddie northeast of the line with Brunswick County.
- 1731 Geo.II to Israel Robertson, 25 August 1731. (Israel: 1.Nicholas b.c1666). Was Prince George Co. Now Dinwiddie northeast of the line with Brunswick County. His land and the land Edward Robertson patented on Oct 31, 1726 probably joined.
- 1733 Geo.II to John Robertson, 3 Dec 1733. (John: 1.Nicholas b.c1666). This was in Prince George, later Brunswick. He probably leased his earlier Prince George land to a couple of men in 1731, and these are the earliest Brunswick County deeds for the Robertsons.
